(NewsDakota.com) – Central Cass and Minot Bishop Ryan will play for the state championship Saturday night in Class B Girls Basketball.

Both the Squirrels and Lions won semifinal games Friday night at the Fargodome. Central Cass pulled away in the second half for a 63-52 victory over Napoleon, and Bishop Ryan downed Thompson 66-46.

In consolation play Friday, Beach beat Grant County 60-34 and Benson County downed New Town 65-57. That sets up Saturday’s schedule with Grant County and New Town playing for 7th at 1 p.m. Beach takes on Benson County at 3 p.m. for 5th. The 3rd place game will feature Napoleon against Thompson at 6 p.m. And the championship will be Central Cass against Minot Bishop Ryan at about 8 p.m.

Central Cass started their semifinal the same way they started their quarterfinal game: fast. The Squirrels scored the first 14 points against Napoleon and led 19-2 in the early going. Napoleon battled back behind senior point guard Kendra Weigel, who scored 16 first-half point and was 11-for-11 at the free throw line in the first half.

A 3-pointer by Weigel in the second quarter pulled Napoleon to within 26-23, but that’s as close as they would get. Central Cass led 33-27 at half, and ripped off a 14-3 run at the end of the third quarter to build a 54-37 lead they would not relinquish.

Weigel led Napoleon (23-2) with 24 points in the loss. Sheridon Dewald added eight points and 13 rebounds and Mariah Jangula scored 7 points. Napoleon made just 12 of 62 field goal attempts in the game.

Hannah Breske scored 22 in the game and 16 in the first half to pace Central Cass (24-3). Abby Cramer added 13 points and 6-foot-3 Faith Dooley finished with a triple-double inside: 13 points, 11 rebounds and 11 blocks.

Radio coverage of Napoleon in the third-place game Saturday can be heard on TED 98.3/102.7 with pregame coverage starting at about 5:50 p.m.
