Lillian Pommerer, age 95, of Valley City, ND, formerly of Oriska, ND, died Thursday, March 14th at the Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Saturday, March 23rd at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Oriska. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 22nd from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Oriska. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 PM Friday evening at the church. Interment will be in St. Bernard’s Catholic Cemetery in the spring.
Lillian Mary Heinze, the daughter of Julius and Anges (Lorenz) Heinze, was born June 18, 1917 on her parent’s farmstead near Oriska, ND. Lilly, as she was known, grew up and attended school in Oriska. On December 29, 1942 she married Harold Pommerer in Oriska, ND. The couple lived in Oriska where Lilly was a wonderful cook working at the Oriska Truck Stop, Mercy Hospital and Woolworth Store in Valley City. Lilly loved playing cards with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Lilly a very active member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church always helping priests whenever needed.
Lilly is survived by her children, Ron Pommerer, Oriska, ND, Dianne (Don) Swanson, Covina, CA and Dennis (Val) Pommerer, Jamestown, ND; 7 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.
Lilly was preceded in death by her parents, husband Harold, one son Richard, 11 brothers and sisters and one daughter-in-law, Paula Pommerer.
