CITY (NewsDakota.com) – The Valley City State baseball and softball teams wrapped up their annual spring trips last week.

The Viking baseball team brings a 8-11 record back to North Dakota. They went 3-4 during their trip to Arizona, wrapping up the trip with a 3-2 win against Grand View (Iowa) on Saturday. VCSU trailed 2-1 entering the seventh, but scored two runs in the bottom of the inning for the victory.

Scott Stephenson and Colin Waldner both had two hits in the game and combined to score the three runs. Brenden Shearer, Brady Anderson and Joey Demers all had RBIs.

On the mound, Ronnie Blagg picked up the complete game victory, allowing just three hits and one earned run while striking out three. The baseball team is scheduled to be back in action March 23-24 for a pair of doubleheaders at Dakota Wesleyan.

The Viking softball team is off to a 1-15 start this season following their trip to Arizona. The Vikings went 1-11 on the trip, picking up a 16-3 victory against Missouri Valley. The Viking softball team is scheduled to be back in action March 23-24 for a pair of doubleheaders at Dakota State.
