(NewsDakota.com)- The 2013 Class A state tournament opens today at the Bismarck Civic Center. Play will begin at 1pm in the Exhibition Hall when the Shanley girls battle Mandan.

Action in the main arena, where the boys will play their first day starts at 2pm when West Fargo and Bismarck High take the floor.

The Jamestown girls will begin their quest for a state title at 7pm against West Fargo. The Packers were ranked No. 3 in the final Class A poll, while the Jays were at No. 4.

Jamestown has not won a state title since 1973, which was actually the first Class A girls tournament. The Jays Kyra Dewald leads the state in scoring with 21ppg.

Out of the eight schools representing the WDA in the state tournament, Jamestown is the only school outside of the Bismarck-Mandan metro area.
