CITY (NewsDakota.com) – The Region 1 girls basketball tournament begins Monday at the Fargo Civic Center as eight teams battle for one spot in the state tournament.

District 2 champion Central Cass (19-3) will kick off the action at 3 p.m. Monday against North Sargent (8-14). Central Cass is considered the favorite after knocking off Maple Valley 52-45 in the District 2 championship last week. Milnor (13-8) and Kindred (16-5)  battle in the second game of the day at about 4:30 p.m.

The bottom half of the bracket begins with District 1 champion Fairmount-Campbell-Tintah (12-8) taking on Northern Cass (15-7) at about 6 p.m. The final game of the night features District 2 runner-up Maple Valley (18-4) against Lisbon (12-10) at about 7:30 p.m.

All games in the tournament featuring Central Cass, Northern Cass and Maple Valley will be broadcast on Q101.1, beginning with pregame at about 2:45 p.m.
