Virginia Neumiller, age 88, of Carrington, ND, formerly of Sykeston, ND, died Friday, March 1, 2013, at Golden Acres Manor in Carrington.
Virginia Schaack was born on July 15, 1924, the daughter of Peter and Elizabeth (Laber) Schaack on the family farm in Bilodeau Township in Wells County. She was raised on the farm and attended Dover Country school and graduated from Sykeston High School in 1942. After graduating, Virginia worked at Sykeston Grocery Store.
On June 17, 1947, Virginia was united in marriage to Richard C. Neumiller at St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church in Sykeston. Together they farmed and raised milk cows south of Sykeston until November 1987, when they retired and moved to Sykeston. Richard died December 14, 2004. Virginia moved to Poplar Court in Carrington in 2011 and moved to Golden Acres Manor in January of 2013.
While living in Sykeston, Virginia was an active member of the community and St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church. She was also an active member of St. Elizabeth’s and St. Joseph’s Society, President of Senior Club for many years, and a member of Altar Society. Virginia enjoyed playing cards and bingo with her friends and family and making quilts for her grandchildren.
Virginia is survived by one son James (Karen) Neumiller, on the family farm at Sykeston; four daughters, Pat (Otto) Tofte, Sykeston, Shirley (Larry) Jackson, Jamestown, ND, Mary Williams and friend Darcy , Bowdon, ND, and Jane (Jim) Fredrickson, Carrington; 11 grandchildren, Jason Tofte, Jennifer Bussinger, Sara Anderson, Michael Jackson, Chad Jackson, Stacy Williams, Heidi Akkerman, Kristen Neumiller, Nikki Neumiller, Patrick Neumiller, Mathew Neumiller; 13 great-grandchildren, Emma, Paige, Kayli, Olivia, Claire, Ashtyn, Jacoby, McKenna, Brooke, Chase, Hunter, Alex, and Grant; and one sister-in-law, Maria Neumiller, Carrington.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son-in-law, John Williams, 5 grandchildren, Brian Williams, Michael Tofte, Rachael Tofte, Judy Tofte, Robert Tofte; 3 sisters, Loretta Sondag, Alyce Zwinger and Mary Ann Garhofer; and one brother, Edward Schaack.
