CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Greg Vanney is the new director of marketing and communications at Valley City State University he replaces Doug Anderson.
In his role, Vanney will manage the university marketing strategy, chair the campus marketing committee, maintain graphic and brand standards, and write and edit a variety of VCSU publications. He will also manage university public relations, serving as spokesperson, creating news releases, directing university advertising, and fostering community relations.
Vanney comes to Valley City State University from Decorah, Iowa, where he worked for more than 20 years as Luther’s director of publications, overseeing the college’s alumni magazine, print publications, and website. He previously served Luther as publications assistant, admissions counselor, and alumni communications coordinator. Vanney also served briefly as creative services director at the University of Iowa Foundation in Iowa City, Iowa.
A native of Rhinelander, Wis., Vanney holds a bachelor’s degree from Luther College. He has three adult sons—Peter, a Peace Corps volunteer in Ghana; Sam, a junior at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa; and Paul, a sophomore at Luther College.
