N.D., (NewsDakota.com)- With time winding Jamestown Senior Phil Manley grabbed a loose ball, launched it at the hoop, and nailed it to send the Jays back to the WDA tournament with a 67-66 win. Scott Nelson attempted to drive the lane, but lost control of the ball and Manley was there to scoop it up and save the season.
Just seconds prior Jalen Jeanotte had scored to put Turtle Mountain in front, but missed the opportunity for a three-point play. Kelley Kessler called time out to draw up a play, but what happened was not exactly how they envisioned it.
Manley was a perfect 2-2 from the field hitting a three-pointer earlier in the half. Jamestown now gets the “prize” of playing top-seed Bismarck St. Mary’s in the opening round of the WDA Tournament Thursday at the Bismarck Civic Center.
Jamestown loss by 45 to the Saints the first time around and 91-55 this past Tuesday.
David Hanson lead the Jays with 16. Logan Anderson had 14 and Alex McInness finished with 12, including 6-7 from the line. In their 19 regular season games Jamestown had just 20 double-digit scorers.
