(NewsDakota.com) – The top four seeds all moved on to the semifinals on day one of the District 2 Girls Basketball Tournament.
Megan Johnson had 21 points, 16 rebounds and blocked a potential game-tying shot in the final seconds as No. 4 Enderlin advanced with a 45-42 win against No. 5 Oak Grove.
Top seed Central Cass rolled to an easy 76-15 win over Richland behind 20 points from Hannah Breske. That sets up a Central Cass-Enderlin semifinal at about 6 p.m. Saturday.
In the other half of the bracket, No. 2 seed Maple Valley got all it could handle from Finley-Sharon/Hope-Page before pulling away in the fourth quarter for a 55-38 win. Freshman Rylee Nudell posted 29 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Raiders into the semifinals.
No. 3 seed Kindred also earned a berth in the semifinals, scoring 13 straight points in the fourth quarter to create some separation and pick up a 56-42 win over Northern Cass. Casey Allmaras scored 13 to lead three Vikings in double figures. The Jaguars’ Lexi Zieske scored 20 in the loss.
Kindred will play Maple Valley in the second semifinal at about 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
In loser-out play, Oak Grove meets Richland at 3 p.m., and Northern Cass takes on FSHP at about 4:30 p.m.
The final three games Saturday can be heard on Q101.1, starting at about 4:20 p.m.
