FORKS (NewsDakota.com) Despite coming up short on Saturday, the Jamestown High School Girls Hockey team still rose to a brand new level on Saturday at the Ralph Engelstad Arena in Grand Forks taking fourth place in the State Hockey Tournament after falling to Grand Forks 4-1 in the third place game.

The Knighriders scored the first two goals of the game; Ashley Becker and Nicole Novak scored within five minutes of each other to take a 2-0 lead after the first 17 minutes. Period two saw the Jays somewhat flat, as they were outshot 20-5, but neither team was able to score.

In the third, Nicole Novak added a power play goal for Grand Forks; her second of the game, but the Jays resurged with Larissa Wiest scoring with seven minutes remaining. Jamestown had a power play late, but was unable to capitalize. Lexi O’Halloran scored an empty net goal in the final minute to ice the game.

Carissa Finck ended her high school career with 38 saves on 41 shots for the vBlue Jays, who end the season with a record of 18-8. Jerrica Rosendahl had 24 saves on 25 shots for the Knightriders, who end their year with a record of 18-7.
