N.D. – Ty Kulsrud, 7-year-old from Grace City, loves everything cowboys and horses, and ever since he and his dad purchased a stock trailer in Texas, this young boy has dreamed of going back to meet a real cowboy.

At the age of 6, Ty was diagnosed with PKAN, a neurological disease characterized by an excess build-up of iron in the brain. While PKAN can cause a number of different neuronal difficulties, Ty has not slowed down.

Ty’s wish was clear: to go to Texas and meet real cowboys. His dream will come true on Thursday, Feb. 28 when he and his family fly to Dallas, Texas. During their wish trip, the Kulsrud family will be given the VIP treatment at the PBR rodeo, including tickets to the show, a backstage tour and interaction with the riders.

The youngest of three, Ty has two brothers, Tanner, 9-years-old and Lane, 11-years-old, who also have PKAN. Ty and Tanner were tested and diagnosed with PKAN after their older brother Lane found out he had the disease. Tanner and Lane will also have their wishes granted by Make-A-Wish® over the next year.

To kick off his trip, Ty and his family will gather for a celebration with Ty’s Adopt-A-Wish® sponsor JakeStar LLC, host of the annual JakeStar Festival. The annual festival was founded after a tragic accident took the life of a young child. Their vision — to be a catalyst for awareness, hope and healing — will certainly be acted out through the granting of Ty’s wish.
