N.D. (AP) – North Dakota’s Senate has endorsed a measure to increase hunting, fishing and boating fees.
The state Game and Fish Department requested the increase to fees to maintain services and increase habitat, which would increase an average of about 15 percent.
The Senate approved the measure Thursday and it will now go to the House for review.
Agency Director Terry Steinwand has said license sales and fees have not kept up with inflation, and some haven’t been raised in more than 30 years. The proposed fee increase would raise about $5 million over the next two years.
