(NewsDakota.com) – A 15-0 run midway through the first half proved to be the difference Thursday night as Fargo Davies beat Valley City 84-69 in EDC boys basketball action.
The big run gave the Eagles a comfortable 16-point lead they would not relinquish. Valley City fought back to within seven and eight points numerous times in the second half, but Davies always had the answer to hold the Hi-Liners off.
Chase Carpenter led Valley City with 21 points. Jared Lentz scored 16 and Jarod Nelson added 11.
Fargo Davies was led by 23 from Andrew Kozlowski and 21 from Tanner Kretchman.
The Hi-Liners drop to 5-12 overall and 2-13 in the EDC. Davies improves to 11-5 overall and 10-5 in EDC play.
Up next: Valley City has just two regular season games remaining. They’re at Wahpeton on Feb. 26 and at Fargo South on Feb. 28. If the season ended today, Valley City would be traveling to Devils Lake for a play-in game prior to the EDC Tournament.
