Chloris Steidl, age 84, of Fingal, ND died Thursday Feb 21, 2013 at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM Monday Feb. 25, 2013 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Fingal, ND with Rev. John Aerts celebrant. Visitation will be from 4 PM until 7 PM Sunday at the church with a Prayer Service beginning at 7 PM. Interment will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery later in the spring.

     Chloris Viola Kouschkowski was born May 14, 1928 to Frank and Mary (Wagner) Kouschkowski. Chloris and her younger brother Linus were raised on the family farm near Courtenay, ND. She attended Durham Country School for her first eight grades and graduated from Courtenay High School. Chloris then attended Valley City Teachers College for two years, graduating with a standard teacher’s certificate. She taught grades one, five, and eight at Grey No. 3 Country School near Wimbledon, then grades one and two at Fingal School until her marriage. She married Ambrose Steidl on June 17, 1952 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Wimbledon, ND and the couple made their home on a farm two miles east and one mile north of Fingal. She was an active member of St. Anne’s Christian Mothers and a supporter of Right to Life.. She enjoyed baking and flowers and made some of the best molasses cookies and rhubarb pie.

     Chloris is survived by her husband, Ambrose, two sons, Gary (Carole) Steidl, Fingal, ND and Leon (Roxanne) Steidl, Oriska, ND, a son-in-law Chuck Crommett, Sun City, AZ, 10 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Charlene, a grandson Bradley Crommett, and her brother Linus Kouschkowski.
