(NewsDakota.com) Two Oakes High School wrestlers were crowned as state champions, and the team finished in fourth place at the State Class B Wrestling Tournament over the weekend in Fargo.

At 113 pounds, Oakes’ Erik Loepp won the state title by defeating Central Cass’ Sawyer Blumhardt by major decision 9-1, and at 170 pounds, Cole Ehrlin won a state title by a 7-0 decision against Dylan Bowen from Hillsboro-Central Valley.

Oakes also had Caden Coleman finish third at 132 pounds, Austin Kelly finishing 5th at 138 pounds, Trent Ptacek took fifth at 152 pounds, Jed Bopp was 8th at 182 pounds, and Michael Kelly was third at 285 pounds.

As a team, the Tornadoes finished fourth with a team score of 125.5 points. The South Border Mustanges finished first with 195 points, followed by Lisbon (148.5), Carrington (143.5), Oakes and Central Cass (121) to round out the top five.

Other area schools: Napoleon was ninth with 97 points, LaMoure was 10th with 64 points, and Ellendale-Edgeley-Kulm was 22nd with 23 points.
