(NewsDakota.com) – The Valley City Hi-Liners had six wrestlers earn places during the State Wrestling Tournament this weekend at the Fargodome.
Shane Undem (145) and Zach Doty (170) both took second place after advancing to the championship matches. Undem fell in a 6-4 decision to Weston Dobler of West Fargo. Doty lost by pin late in the third period to undefeated Ricky Galindo of Bismarck.
Elsewhere for Valley City, Steven Horner (285) took fourth place after wrestling his way back into the third-place match. He lost to Shawn Greenwood fo Bismarck Century by pin.
Jordan Magnuson(182) took sixth at 182 pounds. He had an eventful Saturday, winning in sudden victory, losing a 2-1 decision, and then losing in sudden victory to Dickinson’s Jace Dukart during the fifth-place match.
Valley City’s Jake Ashline (120) and Mark Miller (132) both took eighth place in their divisions. Valley City finished with 75.5 team points, tying for 10th place with Turtle Mountain-Belcourt. Jamestown finished in 13th place with 63 points.
The Blue Jays had three wrestlers earn individual places led by Zane Braun (152) who took second. Braun could not defend his state title from last year and fell by 4-3 decision to Bryce Fish of GF Central in the championship match.
Jaden Horsted (132) took fourth place for the Jays, dropping his final match to Lane Kaseman of Bismarck by 7-5 decision. Paxton Mewes (113) of Jamestown ended the tournament in sixth place. He lost to Reed Cronin of West Fargo by 5-3 decision in the fifth-place match.
West Fargo won the team title with 232.5 points. Bismarck was second at 213.
