D.C. (NewsDakota.com) A hearing on a proposal to reduce U-S mail delivery to five days will be held this week in Washington. Post Master General Patrick Donahue has called for the elimination of mail delivery on Saturday’s.
North Dakota Senator Heidi Heitkamp questions the move and whether its a change that can be made.
Heitkamp says with the fiscal problems facing the Postal Service, she understands the need for changes, but she says the proposed ideas are heavy handed and would be disruptive for rural American.
Heitkamp says the Postal Service will have a chance to explain their plans at Wednesday’s hearing.
