(NewsDakota.com) – Valley City’s High School basketball teams were swept by Fargo North on Friday night.

The Valley City boys were at Fargo North and fell by a score of 86-70, while the girls hosted Fargo North and lost 66-52.

In the boy’s game, Valley City started slow and fell behind by 19 at halftime, 46-27. They trailed by as many as 24 in the second half before a 14-0 run brought them to within in 70-60 with about five minutes remaining. Fargo North would hold off the charge though for the two-point EDC victory.

Valley City’s boys were led by 26 from Chase Carpenter and 14 from Tayler Lentz. Mason Denholm added 11. The Hi-Liners drop to 4-10 overall and 0-11 in the EDC. Fargo North improves to 2-12 overall and 3-10 in EDC play.

Valley City’s girls were close at halftime, but Fargo North was able to pull away down the stretch for the 66-52 victory. The Hi-Liner girls drop to 10-5 overall and 5-7 in EDC play. Fargo North moves to 11-3 overall and 10-3 in the EDC.
