CITY (VCSU) – Morgan Nalley, a senior pitcher from Pocatello, Idaho, has signed a letter of intent to play softball at Valley City State University beginning in the fall of 2013.
Nalley will graduate from Pocatello High School this spring and will have been a varsity letter winner in softball all four years. During her time on the softball team at PHS, Nalley has helped the team to two 4A State Tournaments (2009-10 and 2010-11), was the recipient of the MVP Chief Award in 2009-10 and was a First Team 4A All District Selection in 2011-12.
Playing travel ball for the ‘Next Level’ out of Boise, Idaho, Nalley in her most reason tournament, the Desert Fall Classic in St. George, UT, pitched to a 4-1 record recording 25 strike outs and allowing only five walks and hit for a .600 batting average.
An active participant in school organizations, Nalley is a member of the Business Professionals of America and has been a three time Regional Award winner and a two time top ten State Winner and National qualifier as a member of that organization. She has also been the Sports Editor of her high school Journalism Production, a member of the Pocatello/Chubbuck Mayor’s Youth Advisory Council, a member of Modern Woodman Youth Community Service Club and a three time member of the National Honor Society.
Morgan will join her sister and current member of the Viking Softball team, Samantha on next year’s squad.
‘Morgan will be great asset for our program,’ commented head coach Chad Slyter. ‘She has the ability and make up to have a great career in a Viking uniform. Morgan is a strong pitcher in the circle that has experience at a high level and can also swing a big bat at the plate and provide some offensive spark to the lineup. Her ability to play the corner positions will also serve our team well.’
