(NewsDakota.com)- The girls hockey team headed on the road to Mandan, while the boys hosted the Braves and both Jamestown teams came out victorious. The girls picked up their school record 15th win in a 5-3 slug fest. In the boys game, the Jays used 10 Mandan penalties to win 7-4.

Steph and Torri Kamlitz sparked the Jays with four out of the five team goals. Amber Schaack, who has scored in every game this season, also added a goal. Carissa Finck was her usual reliable self saving 27 shots.

“Finck came up with some point blank saves to save our hides,” Head Coach Brad Schaack said, “We didn’t play well in our defensive zone.”

They will play their final home game Friday when they host Dickinson. Every win from here on out will add to their school record win total. The Jays set the record last year at 13, but have added to it this season.

Six different Jays scored to lead boys to a 7-4 win. There were 14 penalties called in all, ten against the Braves.

Alex Williams scored the games first goal at the 6:05 mark. Jacobi Lux and Nick Stockert also added goals to a 3-0 first period lead. Mandan scored the first two of the second period, but Jamestown had an answer as Austin Rene and Brady Hoggarth scored to put the Braves back into a three-goal deficit.

Jamestown will travel to Bismarck tomorrow (Thursday) night at Wilson Arena. Its their final game of the season. The WDA Tournament begins next Thursday in Minot and the Jays need some help to move up into the fourth spot, a win and a Bismarck loss to Bottineau/Rugby.
