The funeral service for Alph Ronholm, 93, Valley City, ND will be 1:30 p.m., Saturday, February 9, 2013 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Valley City. Burial with military honors will be in Ostervold Cemetery, Finley, ND in the spring.

     Visitation will be an hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

     Alph Ronholm was born July 6, 1919, son of Peder and Haldri (Saterbo) Ronholm at the farm home, Finley, ND. He attended the New Bergan Country School. He was inducted into World War II, Army Medics in June 1942 at Ft. Snelling, MN, serving with the 5th Army as a surgical technician in Africa, Sicily and Italy.

     After his discharge, he married Gudrun Jacobson of South Heart, ND on September 26, 1945 at Daglum Lutheran Church near South Heart. After farming for 21 years at Finley, ND, they moved to Valley City, ND in 1969. Alph was employed at Geisler Implement and Benson Nursery. His retirement hobby was repairing clocks.

     He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Valley City and the American Legion Finley.

     Alph died at the Sheyenne Care Center on February 3, 2013. He was welcomed into heaven and the next chapter of their love story by his wife, Gudrun, who passed away January 23, 2013. He was also preceded in death by a nephew, Dennis Norgard; a brother, Haldor Ronholm; and a daughter, Darlene (Larry) Johnson.

     He leaves to mourn his passing a daughter, Debbie (Kerry Anderson) White; a son, Dennis (Connie) Ronholm; grandchildren, Dorinda (Johnson) Lundy, Lance (Alesha) Johnson, Carrisa Meyer, Jory White, and Kim Laplant; great grandchildren, Samantha Lundy, Lane Kunkel, Brooklyn James Johnson, Jerzie Johnson, and Chloe Schmidt; a great great grandson, Braycen Hedstrand; a brother, Gerhard (Marion) Ronholm; sisters, Ida (Milton) Norgard, Helen (Lloyd) Olson, and Gudrun (Joel) Pladson; nieces, Janice (Dennis) Finell and Carol (Richard) Lande; nephews, Perry Ronholm, Dale Norgard, and Gary Hanson.
