S.D. (NewsDakota.com)- The Jimmies basketball teams were on the road at Dakota State Saturday and the women were able to pick up their 21st win of the season, 82-70. Unfortunately for the men they were unable to top the Trojans for the second time in two weeks as they dropped to 11-15 with a 72-64 loss.

For the second straight time out the women had an impressive first half. They jumped on the Trojans 44-21 heading into the break. Kayla Roemmich and Megan Pold came off the bench to lead the Jimmies with 10 and eight points respectively in the opening half.

Dakota State was playing with out post players Katy Pillar (torn ACL) and Alyson Drooger (ankle injury) and it allowed the Jimmies to score at will in the first half from inside. The Trojans made some adjustments in the second half to slow down JC, but also they began to hit the shots they were missing early scoring 49 points in the second stanza.

DSU cut the lead to nine on a couple occasions but the Jimmies had an answer each time. Roemmich finished with 14. Carly Jensen also had 14 to lead the Jimmies.

The Jimmie men lead on the opening possession of the game and didn’t lead again until the final possession of the half. Dakota State took advantage of 12 second-half turnovers to put the game away.

The Trojans started the second half with a trio of three-point baskets and never trailed again. Luke Lamb was the offensive catalyst for DSU who splashed three threes. Breshion Tucker lead the Jimmies with 14 points.

Jamestown College welcomes the Valley City State Vikings to the Civic Center on Wednesday.  Women’s game tip-offs of at 5:30pm with the men to follow.
