N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Superb goalie play in addition to junior Hayden Schwarz’s hat trick paced the Minot Magicians past the Jamestown Blue Jays 5-0 at Wilson Arena Tuesday night.

Going into the second period knotted up at 0-0, the Magicians responded and came out in the opening 5:57 of the second to the tune of three goals.

Schwarz registered his 11th, 12th and 13th goals of the season and sophomore netminder Breydan Effertz was flawless in between the pipes, saving a perfect 28 of 28 shots on goal.

With the loss, the Jays now drop to 8-5 in the region and 8-9 overall, currently in 5th in the west region standings. The Magicians move to 9-3 in the region and 11-6-1 overall.

The Blue Jays are back at home Thursday for a 7:30 p.m. puck drop versus Bismarck Century, currently the top team in the west region at 9-2, 12-4 overall.
