(NewsDakota.com) The Oakes basketball and wrestling teams were quite busy over the weekend.

Both basketball teams hosted LaMoure-Litchville/Marion on Saturday, with the girls of Oakes victorious 55-38, while the Tornado boys fell short 54-41. The girls are now 6-5 and 2-1 in District 1, and the boys are 4-12 and 2-4 in District 1. Both teams return to District 1 action later in the week with the girls on the road in Forman to take on Sargent Central on Thursday, while the boys host Wyndmere/Lidgerwood on Friday. 

The Tornado wrestling team headed to New Salem to compete in the East/West tournament, and finished in third place with 140.5 points, with Erik Loepp winning a title at 113 pounds. South Border was first as a team with 249.5 points, followed by Carrington (187), Oakes and Lisbon (136.5). The Region I Duel Tournament is set for Saturday in Oakes with first round action starting at 10 a.m.
