CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) An indoor gun range in the basement of the Valley City law enforcement center was closed by state health officials earlier this month because of excess lead levels.

City Administrator David Schelkoph said a licensed contractor will clean up the shooting range. He said lead readings on the top floor were PSAP dispatchers, police, sheriff’s deputies and others in municipal court work are just fine.

Schelkoph says the city must clean up the lead and install a ventilation system before anyone can use the indoor shooting range.
