(NewsDakota.com) The planning for the 2013 Dickey County Relay For Life is officially underway by co-chairs Lori Hayenga and Becki Thompson.

Hayenga says this year’s Relay is set for Friday June 21 at Hockenberry Park in Oakes, and something new will be tried; with the Relay taking place from noon until midnight instead of the traditional Relay during the overnight period into the next morning. Hayenga says other communities have done the “noon to midnight” Relay and have seen those participating staying longer through the event.

There is a Planning Session set for Thursday night at 6 p.m. at Donna’s Diner in Oakes. Those who would like to be involved in various committees, as well as share ideas on this year’s event are encouraged to attend the meeting.
