CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) A Bloomberg Business Week story said Valley City was the best place to raise children in North Dakota.

With a population of slightly more than 6,500 the schools received a high rating and the article said Valley City is a good place to escape the pitfalls of rural life with a variety of sights breaking up the landscape, including 11 historic bridges and five city parks and a skating rink.

Other attributes in Valley City cited was a median family income is $62,406 and the housing costs as a percentage of income at 14 percent along with a county unemployment rate at 2.5 percent was very good.

Valley City Commissioner Mary Lee Nielson said it’s a wonderful story about Valley City and a nice way to gain some positive attention for the city along the Sheyenne River Valley.
