The memorial service for Delores Jane Juhnke, 68, Fort Ransom, North Dakota formerly of Cooperstown, North Dakota will be 11 am Saturday, January 26, 2013 at the Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel, Valley City, North Dakota with Rev. Jerry Rosin officiating. Burial will be in the spring in the Luverne Cemetery, Luverne, North Dakota. She died Tuesday, January 22, at Mercy Hospital, Valley City.
Visitation will be one hour before the service at the chapel.
Delores Jane Kmetz was born August 27, 1944 in Moquaw, Wisconsin, the daughter of Michael and Florence (Shilts) Kmetz. She moved to Motley, Minnesota where she attended school. Delores moved to Hope, North Dakota and worked at the hospital in Cooperstown as an aide. She married Melford Haugen on January 28, 1961 in Hannaford, North Dakota. They made their home near Hannaford where they farmed. She moved to Cooperstown in 1975 and worked as a nurse’s aide at the Griggs County Nursing Home. Delores married Elmer Overby and he died in June 1990. She moved to Valley City where she worked at Mercy Hospital. She then met and married Clarence Juhnke on September 4, 1993 in Fort Ransom. They made their home near Fort Ransom and she worked as a CNA at Lisbon Area Health Services up until the time of her stroke. She entered the Maryhill Manor, Enderlin, North Dakota where she resided until her death.
She is survived by two daughters, Janell (Ron) Kunze, Luverne, ND and Jeanine Haugen, Fargo, ND; two sons, John (Cammy) Haugen, East Grand Forks, MN and James Haugen (Lorna Thronsedt), Grand Forks, ND; six grandchildren, Jenna Barclay, Trina Motschenbacher, Justin Barclay, Joey Haugen, Jordan Haugen, and Kaitlyn Haugen; a great granddaughter, Rylee Jane Amann; three brothers, Vernon Kmetz, Bloomington, MN, Raymond Kmetz, St. Peter, MN, Marvin (Nancy) Kmetz, St. Michael, MN; and one sister, Geraldine Sanz, Mora, MN and several nieces and nephews, and her beloved dog, Daisy.
Delores was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Barbara, Donna and Betty.
