(NewsDakota.com)  The Carrington girls basketball team was on the road again last night playing District Seven opponent Lakota/Adams-Edmore.  The Raiders beat the Cards 56-53.  Carrington drops to 6-4 overall, 1-1 in District Seven.  LAE improves to 9-2 overall, 2-0 in District Seven.

The Raiders jumped out to an early 18-10 lead at the end of the first quarter as the Freije sisters, Ashtin and Fallyn, had a combined 16 of the teams 18 points.  Carrington was aided by a couple of 3-pointers from Sr. Josey Page and Jr. Jacey Engelhorn in the second quarter, but LAE still had a nine point lead at the half.  Sr. Raevyn Pesek had two 3-pointers in the third quarter (three in the game) for the Raiders and helped them to a six point lead at the end of three.  Sr. Nikki Braaten would nail a 3-pointer in the closing minutes of the fourth quarter to get within one point of the Raiders, but Fallyn Freije made five free-throws in the fourth and Lakota/Adams-Edmore would pull away with the win.

The Cards were led by Jacey Engelhorn with 16, Jr. Forward Kayla Hochhalter fouled out with 11 and Page would end the game 10.  Braaten had nine, including two 3-pointers.  There were four players for Carrington with two 3-pointers each; Braaten, Hochhalter, Page and Engelhorn.

The Raiders were led by Soph. Fallyn Freije with 30, Pesek had 11 and Sr. Ashtin Freije had eight.

Both teams had 17 turnovers each, Carrington was 5/7 from the charity stripe, LAE was 9/14.

 Next up for the Girls will be Thursday, January 24th in Fessenden against District seven Harvey/Wells County at 7:15p.  The game will be joined in progress on AM 1600 KDAK because the Carrington wrestlers will also be in action at Carrington High School against Devils Lake starting at 6p (parents night).  Pregame for wrestling should be underway around 5:45p, right after the conclusion of the dual, we will go live to Fessenden to join the girls game in progress.
