N.D. (Prairie Public News) – At least one state lawmaker says school starts too early.

New England Republican Representative Mike Schatz has introduced a bill to prohibit schools from starting before the last Monday in August. His bill would also prevent school sports teams from starting practice before the third Thursday in August.

Schatz says the students need to be given more of a chance to enjoy North Dakota’s short summers.
