(NewsDakota.com)- The Jamestown basketball teams headed to Century last night to battle the Patriots and Century left with a pair of convincing wins.
The second-ranked Patriot girls jumped out to a 15-0 lead and were pretty much on cruise control the rest of the way to a 73-46 win. Hannah Larson led the way with 18, Jordyn Jossart chipped in 17.
Jamestown went into the game as the No. 5 team in Class A with only one loss and no losses in the West Region. Paige Peterson had 15 for the Jays and Kyra Dewald had 14.
The Jay boys trailed by 11 at halftime, scored on the first possession of the second-half to cut the deficit to nine and it appeared we were for an entertaining finish. Robert Hutchins had other ideas as he began a barrage of three-point baskets that buried the Blue Jays 87-40.
Hutchins his six triples in the second-half to finish with 23 points. Century his nine from beyond the arc in the last 18 minutes.
The teams are off until Tuesday when the head back to the Capitol City to battle St. Mary’s. Both games will be carried on 1400 KQDJ.
