(NewsDakota.com) Here are the results for Carrington Sports for the week of January 7th – 11th.
BOYS HOOPS: @ Lamoure, January 10th
The #5 Carrington Cardinals traveled to Lamoure to play #9 Lamoure/Litchville-Marion in a battle of two of the top 10 teams in the State of North Dakota. This is the first year that Litchville and Marion have combined with Lamoure for all sports. The Cards came out on top 58-55 in a thriller. Carrington improves to 9-0, LLM drops to 9-2.
Carrington had a really good first half and led at halftime 32-20. But in the third quarter, Carrington came out a little shaky and only scored 13 points compared to LLM’s 18, making it 45-38 at the end of three. In the fourth, The Loboes would tie the score, but Carrington held on and came out on top with some good points in transition.
The Cards were sparked by Senior Forward Austin Johnson with 10 points and Sophomore Guard Seth Abaurrea with 17, also in double figures was Senior Center Scott Burnham with 13. Taylor Skytland had seven and Alex Nelson had five.
Senior Tysen Rosenau had four points of the bench, Rosenau was also hurt in the game when he took the brunt force of an offensive charging call. Rosenau fell to the floor and had to be wheeled off on a stretcher for precautionary methods.
The Loboes were led by Junior Guard Brady Thielges with 24 points, followed by Senior Guard Jared Meiklejohn with 21, including four 3-pointers.
BOYS JV: Carrington 54 LLM 40
Next up for Carrington is Tuesday, January 15th against District 5 opponent PBK in Carrington. Coverage of the Varsity game will start around 7pm on AM 1600 KDAK.
GIRLS HOOPS: New Rockford/Sheyenne @ Carrington, January 8th
The Carrington Girls Varsity team was in action on Tuesday against District seven opponent New Rockford/Sheyenne. The Cards won 59-40 over the Rockets. Carrington improves to 5-2 overall, 1-0 in District seven. NR/S is 4-4.
Carrington was led by Junior Forward Kayla Hochhalter with 15 followed by Senior Breana Barton with 12. Senior Nikki Braaten and Junior Jacey Engelhorn had eight apiece.
The Rockets were led by Lacey Grann with 16.
GIRLS JV: Carrington JV 48 PBK 40 (Stutsman County Tourney)
Next up for the JV will be at 6pm on Saturday, January 12th at the Jamestown Civic Center for the semifinal round of the Stutsman County Girls Basketball Tourney against the number one seeded Napoleon Imperials. This game was originally scheduled for tonight, but postponed until tomorrow because of inclement weather.
Next up for the Varsity will be on Monday, January 14th against District 11 opponent Velva, coverage can be heard around 7pm on AM 1600 KDAK.
