(NewsDakota.com) A 34 year old Oakes man has been charged with aggravated assault after allegedly inflicting severe injuries on an 8 month old girl over the weekend.

Oscar Castro was arrested on Tuesday evening after a complaint by the state Bureau of Criminal Investigation was filed. The complaint alleges Castro repetitivly shook the girl on Saturday, and the shaking resulted in bleeding in her eyes and her skull.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Castro was in the Barnes County Jail awaiting a bail hearing. If convicted on the Class C Felony charge, he could face up to five years in prison.
