Carol Baker, 77, of LaMoure, ND, passed away January 7, 2013, at the Oakes Community Hospital.
Arlene Carol Dancer, daughter of Charles and Pauline (Olson) Dancer was born April 28, 1935 at Webster, South Dakota. Her family moved to the Jamestown, North Dakota area, where she grew up and attended school. Carol married Grant Baker on November 11, 1952 in Moorhead, Minnesota. After their marriage, Grant entered the service, and Carol followed him moving from place to place throughout his military career, and again relocating in different places through his employment with Ottertail. LaMoure has been their home since 1978, at which time they also became members of Zoar Lutheran Church. Carol enjoyed spending time at their lake home in Minnewauken, North Dakota, and after retiring she enjoyed spending winters in Arizona. She liked spending time at the casino “playing the game of chance”. She also liked cooking and spending time with her animals. But what Carol loved most, was being around her kids, grandkids, and the rest of her family.
She is survived by her husband, Grant Sr.; six children, Deb (Joe) Majerus, Russell (Beryl) Baker, Garth (Mamie) Baker, Sheila (Gary) Klein, Nathan (Veronica) Baker, and Grant Jr. (Karin) Baker; a sister, Phyllis Ibes; nineteen grandchildren; and twenty-three great-grandchildren. Carol was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda Baker Schneider; two brothers, Burton and Conrad; one sister, Gertrude; and her parents, Charles and Pauline.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 9th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service starting at 7:00 p.m. at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, LaMoure. Her funeral will be Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Zoar Lutheran Church, LaMoure. Burial will be Friday at 1:00 p.m. at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND.
