N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Imagine not knowing where you came from, who your parents were, or how you got to where you are?
Such is the case for Singer/Songwriter John Dennis Smith. John provides a fantastic tale of how he was adopted and made it to where he is today. Starting from when he was a child, John would sing at church, play guitar and singing all the time. His big break came on March 1978 when he sang at a Lawrence Welk show. He was hired on the spot.
He has released music charting in the Billboard Magazine in the top ten charts with “California Calling”. His second single “Dynamite” also charted. The story changes when he set out to find his birth mother, who he has since then rekindled a relationship with. It was then that he was told who his dad was. And to John, it made sense.
“My obsession for music, my abilities, and that I was adopted by family.”
In 2005, after corroborations and conversations with records offices, John received a copy of his birth certificate and it lists his mother and Elvis Aaron Presley as his parents.
John Dennis Smith (Presley) will be signing books and giving an acoustic performance at the All Vets Club on Tuesday, January 7th from 7-9 PM. All proceeds raised will go towards the Women’s Safe Shelter.
Here is a clip of what you can expect from tonight’s performance.
