CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Authorities say 45-year-old Douglas Allen Boppre faces terrorizing and felon in possession of a fire arm felony charges after he surrendered to police following a stand-off Tuesday in Valley City. Police responded to a call of a barricaded armed suicidal man at 636 Valley Avenue S.E. around 2am. Area residents were requested to evacuate their homes or shelter in place.
Police Chief Fred Thompson said attempts to contact Boppre during the nearly 6 hour standoff were unsuccessful but he exited the home peacefully around 7:40am. No injuries were reported.
Thompson said investigators recovered a rifle and ammunition inside the home. Members of the James Valley Special Operations Swat Team assisted Valley City police during the stand-off along with members of the Valley City Fire Department.
