CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Valley City residents want a different way to distribute Special Assessments to ease future sticker shock.
Review Team Chairman Rev. Jim Black said some citizens prefer spreading the cost of special assessments citywide over a longer period of time.
City Attorney Russ Myhre said an Attorney Generals opinion will be required being citywide assessments have been challenged in the past.
City Commissioner Duane Magnuson said a number of options are open for discussion and he encouraged future public meetings to gather input on the issue.
A 6-member special assessment review team completed a 4-month study and presented some of the findings to the city commission on Friday.
