The funeral service for Lola Ann Boom, 78, Marion, ND, will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 22, 2012 at North Marion Reformed Church, rural Marion, ND. Burial will be in the North Marion Reformed Cemetery.

     Those interested in personally extending their condolences are invited to a visitation, Friday, December 21, 2012, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Oliver-Nathan Funeral Chapel, Valley City with a prayer service following at 7:00 p.m.. Visitation at the church will begin one hour before the Saturday afternoon funeral service.

     Lola Ann Swier was born on October 14, 1934 in Colton, SD, the daughter of Neil and Henrietta (Burgers) Swier. She graduated from Colton High School in 1952. Lola married the love of her life, Lloyd Boom, of Marion, ND on October 17, 1952. They made their home near Marion where they farmed until 1997 and moved to the town of Marion.

     She enjoyed gardening, various arts and crafts, playing piano, singing, and baking and decorating the most incredible cakes. Lola’s special gift was decorating and sending cards to those in need of thoughtful words as she wanted people to know she was thinking and praying for them.

     Lola passed away at home, Wednesday, December 19, 2012. She is survived by her husband, Lloyd; three daughters, LaDonna (Art) Rode, Bismarck, ND, Lisa (John) Sandygren, Mohler, WA, and Lori (John) Unterseher, Mobridge, SD; a son, Len (Lynn) Boom, Marion; 8 grandchildren; 2 great granddaughters; two brothers, Harold (Peggy) Swier, Hartford, SD and Glen (Nancy) Swier, Colton, SD.

     She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Gene and David Swier; a grandson, Nathan Rode; and an infant granddaughter.
