CITY (NewsDakota.com) – Day two of the Barnes County Tournament is Thursday, and it features a pair of promising semifinals.

After three double-digit victories on the opening day, the second round looks to feature some much more even match-ups.

In the first semifinal at 6 p.m., three-time defending champion Maple Valley looks to avenge an early season loss to LaMoure-Litchville-Marion. The two teams played on Dec. 3 in Tower City, a game the Loboes won 56-54. Maple Valley is 3-1 this season and LaMoure is still undefeated at 4-0.

The second semifinal features two teams that pulled away from their competition early in the first round. Milnor led BCN 35-19 at half and Valley City led Griggs County Central 38-8 at the half. Milnor and Valley City will match-up at about 7:30 p.m. in the second semifinals. Milnor is 2-2 this season and Valley City is 1-1. Chase Carpenter scored 29 for Valley City in the victory, and Briton Bussman scored 24 for Milnor.

In the consolation semifinals, Finley-Sharon/Hope-Page will take on Enderlin the first game of the day at 3 p.m. Enderlin is 1-3 this season, and Finley-Sharon/Hope-Page is 0-3. In the second consolation semifinal at about 4:30 p.m. Barnes County North will square off with Griggs County Central. BCN is 1-2 this season, and Griggs is now 2-1.

All games Thursday can be heard on Q101.1, with pregame coverage starting at 2:30 p.m. Placing games and championship are Saturday starting at noon. Those games can also be heard on Q101.1.
