(NewsDakota.com) For the first time in the 2012-13 season, the Oakes High School boys basketball team heads on the road, and also returns to District 1 play Thursday night as they take on the Lisbon Broncos.
Oakes has started the season with a pair of losses; a 46-35 defeat at the hands of the Hankinson Pirates to start the season and district play last Friday night, and a 72-43 loss to Maple Valley last Saturday evening. The Tornadoes are shooting only 28.1 percent from the floor as a team, but have been shooting well from free throw land at 75 percent.
The Broncos are 2-1 so far this year with wins over Northern Cass 54-53 on December 4 and FCT to start district play 52-49 on December 7. Their one loss came against LaMoure-Litchville/Marion on December 6 65-46. Lisbon won both games against Oakes last season; 53-37 during the regular season, and a 54-44 victory in February, which bounced the Tornadoes from the post-season.
Coverage from Lisbon on KDDR 1220 AM/95.9 FM and NewsDakota.com starts around 7:15 p.m. on Thursday night, with tip set for around 7:30.
