C. Zimbelman, 91, of Oakes, ND, passed away December 10, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Society, Oakes, ND.

Rachel Christine was born December 24, 1920 to James and Emma (Lindgren) McCloskey. She attended school in Oakes, graduating from Oakes High School in 1938. Rachel moved to St. Paul, Minnesota in the fall of 1938, and was employed at the Montgomery Ward Co., Fanny Farmers Candy Co., and was also a housekeeper.

Rachel married William Pranke on October 24, 1942 in St. Paul. Together they had two sons, Gary and Jeff. In the spring of 1944, they moved to Alameda, California.

In 1945, Rachel returned to Oakes. Over the years, she worked at the Red Owl Store, the JC Penney Store, and First National Bank. She was united in marriage to Allisen Zimbelman on February 24, 1968. Allisen passed away on May 25, 2007. Rachel continued to make her home in Oakes, and in November of 2011 she became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society.

Rachel was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church, serving as Church Treasurer and Clerk of Session and Elders. She was also active in the Presbyterian Women’s Association, and held all the offices at one time or another, including the treasurer for over 20 years.

She is survived by two sons, Gary Pranke, Winters, CA and Jeff Pranke, Phoenix, AZ; two step-children, Patti (Gene) Kraft, Rapid City, SD and Charlotte (Dennis) Kenfield, Chester, MT; sisters, Geraldine (Holmes) Cunningham, Newnan, GA and Arlene Meehl, Oakes, ND; brothers, Arlen (Shirley) McCloskey, Butte, MT and Curtis (Patti) McCloskey, Oakes, ND; eleven grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren; step-grandchildren; and step-great-grandchildren. Rachel was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Allisen, an infant son, Charles Pranke, step-sons, Darryl and Paul Zimbelman, brothers, Maurice “Bud” McCloskey and Gerald McCloskey, and a sister, Hazel Plante.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 13, 2012 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service starting at 7:00 p.m. at Dahlstrom Funeral Home, Oakes. Her funeral will be Friday at 11:00 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, Oakes.
