(JC Sports Information)- Jamestown College head men’s basketball coach Justin Wieck announced two new signings to the Jimmie program. Both will join the Jimmies beginning after semester break. Wieck announced the signing of Colt Mavity and Brequan Tucker.
Mavity, a 6’4 transfer from Dakota College at Bottineau, is a native of Killdeer, ND. In his freshman season at Dakota College, Mavity averaged 6 points and 5 rebounds per game. Mavity earned a Mon-Dak All-Academic Conference award. In Mavity’s senior season at Killdeer High School, he averaged 15 points and 9 rebounds per game. Mavity earned both All-District and All-Region awards. Mavity will graduate from Dakota College following the fall semester, and will be eligible immediately to compete for the Jimmies.
“I decided to sign with Jamestown College so I can continue playing basketball along with focusing on my academics,” Mavity said. “Jamestown is a great place and the college seems to be the perfect fit for me. I am excited to be a part of the Jamestown basketball family and I can’t wait to start playing for the Jimmies!”
Tucker, a 6’1 transfer from Saint Francis (IN), is a native of Joliet, IL. Tucker is a triplet brother of current Jimmie guard Breshion Tucker.
Tucker was a member of the St. Francis team the defeated the Jimmies in the 2012 NAIA National Tournament and finished in the Elite Eight. Tucker played in 10 games as a true freshman. As a senior at Joliet High School, Tucker averaged 14.5 points, 5.8 rebounds and 4 assists per game while earning all-area honorable mention honors. Tucker will continue his redshirt year in the spring at Jamestown, and will have three seasons to play starting next fall.
“I chose Jamestown because of my desire to excel in both academics and athletics,” Tucker said. “I love the style of play the Jimmies run as well as the level of competition. I’m excited to play with my brother again and can’t wait to compete for conference and national titles at Jamestown.”
