N.D. (AP) – Production of dry edible beans and potatoes in North Dakota is up dramatically from last year, when flooding was a problem in many parts of the state.

The Agriculture Department estimates bean production at 11.7 million hundredweight, up 137 percent from 2011 to a record. The previous record was 11.5 million hundredweight in 2010.

North Dakota potato production is pegged at 25.2 million hundredweight, up 34 percent over the year.
