CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) The transition of moving control of the Public Service Answering Point system known as 9-1-1 from city to Barnes County was pushed back until July of 2013.

Barnes County Commission Chairman Eldred Knutson says the county will submit a resolution to clarify the control and distribution of 9-1-1 funds related to the new cost ratio agreement.

But Valley City administrator David Schelkoph told the county commission that city commissioner Magnuson believes the city should renegotiate the cost share ratio and other concerns related to the take over.

County Commissioner Knutson says it’s time to move forward not backwards on the take over.

Schelkoph says the city is grateful the county pushed back the take over date until July of 2013.

Last month Valley City threatened Barnes County with a lawsuit if the county took over the 9-1-1 dispatch contract on January first 7 months before the tentative contract was to expire.

The Barnes County Commission voted 3 to 2 to move forward to pass the 9-1-1 resolution for city review on Tuesday. Commissioners Froehlich and Leitner voted against the resolution citing their disagreement to move transfer the 9-1-1 dispatch center from city to county control.
