Robert Thomsen, age 69 of Valley City went to his eternal rest Friday November 30 at Sanford Health in Fargo, ND.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 AM Tuesday December 4 at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Valley City with Msgr Dennis Skonseng celebrant.  Visitation will be from 4 PM until 7 PM Monday at St. Catherine’s Church with a Prayer Service beginning at 7 PM.  Interment will be in St. Catherine’s Cemetery.

Dr. Robert , son of  Harold G. Thomsen and Marie Alice (Ihry), was born in Valley City on March 22, 1943. He graduated Co-Valedictorian from St. Catherine’s  High School. After attending NDSU for 2 years, he graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic and opened Thomsen Chiropractic Clinic in 1968 in Valley City, ND.

Doc was the Barnes County outstanding Handicapped citizen of the year, and runner-up for ND. Chairman of Valley City’s mayor committee on the employment of the handicap citizen, and was appointed by Governor Schafer to the committee on employment of the handicap.

                Dr. Rob served as president of the Barnes County Historical Society and Professional Advisory committee to the City-County Health Department.  Robert was a member of St. Catherine’s Church,  Knights of Columbus , and the Valley City Eagles Aerie.

                Doc worked with ProSport Chiropractic, Jaycees, Optimists Club, Valley City Pistol League, Barnes County Wildlife Club, Ducks Unlimited, and served as team physician for the VC Bantam traveling hockey team.

                He served on the ND board of Examiners, was board certified in Chiropractic Orthopedics and Applied Kinesiology.     

Dr. Rob organized and served as president for 5 years the Teen Canteen board.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Ina Ann.  Children:  Brian J, San Diego, CA, Dr. Brad (Stacey), Thompson, ND,  Dr. Brent L. (Dawn), Valley City,   Bridgette (Derrick) Rader, Lisbon, ND.  Seven Grandchildren:  Dylan, Jacob, Kaden, Kellen, Alyssa, Chesney & Kennedy; Siblings: Ron(Marge) Valley City,  Peggy (James) Swanke  Apple Valley, MN,  Jeanne Dove  Greer, SC,  Dr. Garett (Peach) Tomsin,  Arlington, WA, Sheryl (Larry) Persons  Detroit Lakes, MN, Tammy (Barry) Devitt Valley City,  as well as many aunts , uncles and cousins.

Rob was preceded in dead by his parents, Harold and Marie; his daughter Anisa Renae.
