(NewsDakota.com) The Oakes Fire and Ambulance departments responded to a call of a fire at a home at a farmsted located just north and west of Crete, along 83rd Street Southeast on Monday Afternoon.

Crews responded to the scene around 3 p.m. and found a hot spot in the basement of the home. Firefighters removed some siding from the northeast corner of the home, and slid a hose into the basement to smoke out the hotspot.

A woman and young girl along with their small dog were the only ones at the home at the time crews arrived; no one was injured.  Officials were on scene for around an hour.
