D.C. (KFGO News) – Congressman Rick Berg has said goodbye to his colleagues in the U.S. House of Representatives.

After losing the general election for the U.S. Senate to Heidi Heitkamp, the one-term Republican leaves Washington, D.C., saying he’s confident that partisan politics can be set aside.

Berg also thanked North Dakotans for allowing him to serve, calling his time in Congress an experience of a lifetime.

Berg, who is a commercial real estate broker in Fargo, says he has no immediate plans to run for public office again.
