CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) District 24 Democratic state representative Ralph Metcalf of Valley City said he bucked his party a few times during his 14 years as a legislator but gained the respect from members on both sides of the isle. He said he was independent on several issues while he served as a legislator.
Metcalf formed strong friendships on both sides of the isle.
Metcalf said he was glad he played a roll passing legislation for construction of the new Veterans Home in Lisbon. And Metcalf said it took 3 legislative session but he and other legislators got passage on the major reconstruction upgrade of the state penitentiary. He said the construction cost is on target but work has been delayed due to contractor demands in western North Dakota.
Metcalf and fellow District 24 representative Phil Mueller’s final day is December first. Naomi Muscha and Dwight Kiefert will be sworn in as the new District 24 representatives.
