CITY (NewsDakota.com) – Three area college basketball teams are in the Top 20 this week as the first regular season NAIA Division II Top 25 Coaches’ Poll was released on Tuesday.
Jamestown College’s women are the highest ranked local team, remaining at No. 11 in the poll. The Jimmies are 9-1, and were rated No. 11 in the preseason Top 25 poll.
Valley City State’s men’s and women’s basketball teams are both rated No. 19 in the poll.
VCSU’s men moved up five spots from their preseason ranking of No. 24, and the women moved up seven spots from their preseason ranking of No. 26. The women are 5-1, and the men are 5-2.
In the men’s poll, Northwood (Fla.) is the top ranked team, followed by Cardinal Stritch, Dordt College, Eastern Oregon and Indiana Wesleyan to round out the top five.
In the women’s poll, Concordia (Neb.) is the top team, followed by College of the Ozarks, Indiana Wesleyan, Morningside and Briar Cliff.
